Boss or Leader?

Many of us either have children, or have seen children, who want everyone to follow their lead. They love being in charge. And normally, these children are told, 'Don't be so bossy!' or, 'Try to get along.'

The thing is - some children are born leaders. Instead of quashing their spirits, parents/teachers/caregivers should aim to hone their leadership qualities.

In my upcoming picture book, Tracey Learns to Lead, I deal with this very issue. How can we teach children to be good leaders? Daddy Dog takes a gentle parenting approach to educate his young pup about leadership skills.

Not only does he practise staylistening (the act of staying with a child’s strong emotions without interrupting, belittling or invalidating them), he also imparts another important life lesson – its ok to fail!

Filled with colourful illustrations for young readers, this is not one to miss.
