Do Good!

Do good, we are taught. Do good!
So we try. We try to do good; to include the outcasts, to be considerate when we’d rather be petty.
We teach our children, be good! Do good things! And so on.
And then, inevitably, we get hurt. The goodness comes at a cost. Sometimes we can bear it graciously, sometimes not. But we soldier on. Trying to “do good”.
But what about our children? When they do good and get hurt? What about that? Do we tell them, do good, but only sometimes? Or do we say, don’t be good. Better to be smart and aloof. But children are innocent. They are the embodiment of all that is good in this world.
When they reject our less than perfectly good suggestions; what then? What then?? What is a parent to do???
All we can say is, do good and trust in God, my children.
Do good and trust in God. ðŸ˜”
